Chris grew up farming and has been working with Agronomy, AgTech, and AgriBusiness for the past 30 years. Since acquiring his degree in Agronomy from the University of Saskatchewan, he has held leadership roles in Ag Retail, Ag Consulting, and Tech Development with global fertilizer and crop protection firms.
Chris studies major disruptions in the AgriFood industry including deglobalization, emergence of new tech, emission reduction mandates, food scarcity and security, cost of capital, urbanization, and more. He then focuses on the intersection between strategy and new technologies, and has successfully leveraged his knowledge of agronomy, farming, and AgriBusiness to help create and capture new value streams with several companies, both large, and small.
Currently, Chris is a partner with Tall Grass Ventures, focused on seed stage agrifood ventures, and has been a long-term angel investor in AgTech. He plays an active role with several companies where he serves as a board member, and volunteers a lot of his time formally mentoring early stage AgTech companies through several accelerator programs and innovation events.
