We have an immediate opening for a Client Support Representative.  The successful candidate can be based remotely in Alberta, but must be able to travel to client sites, to the PLC facility in Red Deer, and work from home as required.  Pure Life Carbon offers an attractive competitive salary and benefits package.

The Position

The Client Support Representative is a skilled, observant Grower who is passionate about expanding Pure Life Carbon’s current understanding of plant life and how it relates to grow media and PLC’s products. This person will be responsible for all areas of client management, providing frequent support to our clients. As the onsite point of contact, the Client Support Representative will support daily client related needs that may include research and development, logistics, sales, accounting, and operations. The Client Support Representative will also frequently work with PLC’s research and development team to integrate client experiences with our products and optimize them to their fullest. The ideal candidate should be a critical thinker, fast learner, and be prepared to manage the day to day needs of a variety of growers across the CEA industry.

 

A typical day in the life of a Client Support Representative may include:

  • Working within a client facility to support their needs, observe their operations, advise on the use of PLC’s products, and assist the client in making facility adjustments to optimize crop production.
  • Working from home office to complete generally assigned duties.
  • Working from a PLC facility, testing and supporting other functions such as R&D, Sales, Accounting, Logistics, and Operations as required.
  • Travel to industry related events.

Responsibilities

  • Study and maintain a high level of competency on the use of PLC’s products.
  • Main point of contact between clients and the various functions within Pure Life Carbon.
  • Coordinate all PLC communications to be distributed to our clients in an organized way that is considerate of all functional needs within PLC.
  • Manage day to day client needs to ensure they are well supported and satisfied with PLC’s products and services.
  • Conduct fieldwork with our products, collect, test, and record as needed.
  • Support client needs and R&D work using acquired knowledge of PLC’s products and how to use them.
  • Capture and organize all technical information to ensure information sharing as needed.
  • Communicate effectively and consistently both internally and externally.
  • Supervise and control plant nutrition at all stages of crop growth.
  • Coordinate and monitor client IPM program to ensure timely and effective biological or chemical treatment of pests and disease.
  • Participate in, support, and document all R&D activities and all Client interactions as required.
  • Support PLC’s Sales and R&D team members as required.
  • Observe the effects of weather, pollutants, pests, and other problems on various plant species in, or with our products.
  • Analyze plant responses and report possible trends, benefits, or concerns in our product.
  • Encourage desirable traits in plants grown in our products through a variety of feeding techniques or environmental adjustments.
  • Achieve project objectives by coordinating and working with other Botanists, students, educational institutions, 3rd party R&D firms, and PLC team members.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor degree or diploma in horticulture/agriculture is an asset.
  • Class 5 unrestricted Driver’s License and clean 5-year Drivers Abstract.
  • 3-5 years experience growing tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, strawberries, or other greenhouse crops.
  • In-depth knowledge of tomato production.
  • Thorough understanding of plant biology, research methods, scientific principles, and environmental concerns.
  • Analytical and collaborative with a passion for raising awareness about environmental concerns and plant conservation.
  • Excellent research, problem-solving, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel with own transportation.
  • Confident, respectful, comfortable with speaking in front of client groups.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills.
